Sunter International Speedway is located in the north side of Jakarta. The track was built with some Xray VIP paddock and other 5 star facilities. The soft opening race just took place on February 21-22nd 2009
Qualifying Rounds â“ Saturday
The first qualifying on Saturday morning had to be delayed several hours because of Friday night's heavy rain, but the skies cleared, providing perfect conditions later in the afternoon. There are 4(four) rounds on Saturday and another 1(one) more round on Sunday morning. Result after 4 rounds Sadikin is 2nd, Erwin 3rd and Danny 5th.
Sunday - Qualifying
The last round of qualifying starts around 10:30 AM. Both Sadikin and Danny improve their lap times. Danny climb up to 2nd position (5:11) and Sadikin will start from 3rd spot (5:12).
Sunday - Finals
The 45 mins final started smoothly with very minor accident in the back row. Car number 1 (Kris Heriyana) was leading the pack from the beginning. My car is pushed in almost every corner and couldn't keep up with others. Team mate Sadikin got 2nd place just after 5 laps and a couple of minutes later, Danny drops another position to 4th place. Erwin Luhur (Singapore) got engine flame out and has to fight from behind with back markers to regain position.
After racing for 30 minutes, now the tire strategy will take the biggest part of the rest of the race. While otherâ™s lap times dropped Danny closing up and finally regain 3rd position, which also managed to set his own fastest lap of the race at the time.
Around the 40 minute mark, Danny regains another position to 2nd from Sadikin and closing to 1st position. Since I also suffered from collisions with back markers at the middle of the race, the gap with 1st position is too wide and after 45 minutes I can only managed to finish just 2-3 seconds behind.
Great result for Team XRAY as the strongest team and most popular choice among drivers.
Total of 6 cars on A Final. Podium finishes in all class including B Final clean sweep.
